To accomplish your goals, you need motivation or drive. However, this drive can wax and wane during different seasons of your life or when you face new challenges or opportunities. For example, right after you set your goal, you may be dedicated to its completion, but two weeks into it, you may feel overwhelmed or disappointed that you haven’t gotten as far as you would have liked. Therefore, these are some tips to help you accomplish your goals.

Write Your Goals

Just setting goals is not enough to keep you on track. You need to write your goals down in detail. Write down exactly what you want to achieve and when you want to see the results. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound.

Once you write your goals down, put them in a place where you can see them at least once per day. Post them on your bathroom mirror or next to your monitor at work. Remind yourself of your goals every day.

Break Down Your Goals

Your goals should be big changes you hope to see in your life. For example, you may want to purchase gain a passive income by purchasing five investment properties per year, or you may want to quit your job and support yourself with your own business within five years. These are big goals that tend to be somewhat involved. You have to take many steps to get there. If you only look at the goals, you may become overwhelmed.

However, if you can break them into steps, you can take those steps one at a time. For example, if you want to invest in five properties per year, your first task may include researching property investment. You can find a mentor, talk to people with investments, research property types and decide what type interests you the most, etc. The more you can break down your goals, the less intimidating they will be. Then, take your tasks one at a time.

Create a Vision of Your Finished Goal

In addition to reading your goals consistently, you should have the ability to see them. Some may suggest creating a vision board where you have visual representations of every goal you have. However, you can just have a screensaver with a picture of your dream corporate headquarters or draw it out and put it on the wall. You may also photoshop a photo of yourself after you lost 30 pounds. Whatever your goal, find a way to post a visualization of it.

You will likely find many motivation strategies that can help you achieve your goals, but don’t forget these three because they help you make your goals real.
